ABOUT
Poker Face originated as a standalone meme with the exact same blank expression before being folded into the broader rage comic universe (the same ecosystem that produced Trollface, Me Gusta, Forever Alone, etc.)
The rage comic style itself exploded in the late 2000s/early 2010s on anonymous imageboards, where users created quick, relatable “rage” stories using these reusable faces.
WHY $POKERFACE?
Poker Face and Troll Face are direct siblings in the same rage comic / 4chan meme family. Trollface (the mischievous, wide-grinning troll) was created in 2008 by Carlos Ramirez and became the universal symbol of internet trolling. Poker Face serves as the deadpan counterpart—used in the exact same comics for “no reaction” humor. Both faces often appear together or in similar trolling/awkward scenarios, representing different flavors of early 2010s internet culture (trolling vs. stone-faced denial).
